Bride Beliefs in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a state click now rich with interesting beliefs. The bride can be very interesting, moving, and completely different from the traditional american service. While filming celebrations in Bulgaria, I had the opportunity to witness a few of them.

One of the most distinctive marriage customs in Bulgaria is known as the “gelina.” It’s where the bridegroom goes and steals his wife from her families property, taking her to his own apartment. It’s thought that this ritual did defend against wicked feeling and deliver excellent fortune for the honeymooners.

The couple will typically attend a lavish reception in a restaurant or other venue following the church or civil ceremony ( or both ). Their mothers did transfer tiny pieces of the traditional round food dipped in sodium and honey before entering the house. The first item is salt to remind them of the troubles their matrimony will present, and the second is sweet, which serves as a reminder of the beauty that will also be present in their life together.

The “kumove,” two people who serve as the couple’s most important friends and mentors, are another crucial component of the wedding, making their role as their guardians and instructors. They will guide them in their upcoming lives together and link them through the challenging days.

Once the reception begins it’s moment for a lot of dancing. The dance starts with the best gentleman and finest woman. The bride and groom dance a few times, which is customary, to get their pie, which is very special.
